Background :

She belongs to a middle-class family background, was married at the age of 17 and lived with her husband’s family in Surat Nagar of Gurgaon. After facing many ups and downs in life at an early age, she started her studies with the help of his children and his tuition teacher. Facing a lot of difficulties at the age of 35, she opened a vegetable shop but also suffered losses. Now she has been running a small general shop for the last 6 years. She is honest and sincere and always eager to learn something new.

Her business :

She runs a general store now. With the earnings from this shop, she helps her husband with the expenses of his house and children’s education. Now she plans to increase varieties and area of shop in the near future.

Microsoft-REVIVE journey :

Even though Urmila did use a couple of applications prior to our program, we did give her exposure to various other apps and knowledge about the importance of money management in any business. She wanted to increase her operations but was still unsure of how much she is earning and spending. With the help of our program, she is now using our money management tool Mera Bills to get insights about the growth pattern and expenses of her business.

Change in perspective:

Urmila did require help from her husband at all times, whenever anything related to finances used to crop up. Even for banking services and government loans, she was unsure of the processes. Now she does not need help from her family members to maintain her finances, and all the exposure she has got from our program has only made her hungrier for knowledge of other domains of the business.

Benefits of the program:

The most important advantage that she has got is money management for her shop. Now she knows exactly how much money she will need in the coming months and how much she needs to earn. The monthly report is one feature that she has often used to get brief insights of her business. She is also helping other nearest beneficiaries to understand these apps.
